Delta Air Lines Flight Diverted Due to Spoiled Food Incident
A Delta Air Lines flight from Detroit to Amsterdam was diverted to New York's JFK airport early Wednesday morning after passengers were served spoiled food. Delta Flight 136, with 277 passengers on board, was diverted due to part of the main cabin in-flight chicken meal being spoiled. About 70 passengers reportedly became sick after consuming the meal, with some mentioning the presence of black mold on the food. Delta's Food Safety team has launched an investigation into the incident and apologized to customers for the inconvenience.
Despite the sickness, all affected passengers refused further medical treatment. In response, Delta adjusted its in-flight meal service on international flights as a precaution. Passengers were provided with food and hotel vouchers, with the flight rescheduled to depart later in the day. This incident follows a recent diversion of a Delta flight due to sickness among flight attendants, which was unrelated to the spoiled food incident.
