Historic Victory for TDP+ in Andhra Pradesh; Chandrababu Naidu Sets Sights on Telangana

Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu is buoyed by the historic victory of TDP+ in Andhra Pradesh and is now focused on revitalizing the party in Telangana. He conveyed this message clearly to his party cadres in Telangana. During his interaction with T-TDP leaders, Chandrababu acknowledged that the party's current situation is not the brightest, especially after the departure of former president Kasani Gnaneshwar. Despite this, Naidu assured the Telangana cadres that brighter days lie ahead for the party regionally, promising imminent reforms.

'We will soon start reconstruction from the grassroots level. TDP was born on Telangana soil and will continue to thrive, no matter what. A new president will be appointed soon, and we will lead the party forward in Telangana in every possible way. We are coming back soon,' remarked Naidu. After refraining from contesting the 2023 assembly polls due to Naidu's incarceration, TDP's future in Telangana appeared bleak.

However, the historic victory in AP has rejuvenated Naidu and the cadre in Telangana, a sentiment affirmed in his meeting with T-TDP cadres. Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh met in Hyderabad to discuss and resolve issues pending between the two states since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in June 2014. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and his Andhra counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu met to address issues like the division of water of Godavari and Krishna rivers. The meeting aimed to set up a platform for both governments to discuss issues without acrimony, initiating a process of long discussions and negotiations. The association between Revanth and Naidu goes back, with both agreeing to resolve pending matters related to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 in a friendly atmosphere.

The two Chief Ministers met as old friends, hugging each other before sitting down to negotiate. A positive response from Naidu and Revanth has opened doors for resolving at least 14 pending issues between the two states, including the division of cash and assets. Committees will be set up to resolve these issues, with the Chief Ministers stepping in if needed. The meeting between AP and TG delegations lasted about one-and-a-half hours, with both states agreeing to secure all their rights promised in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. The Telangana government emphasized its fight against narcotics and drugs, seeking cooperation from Andhra Pradesh.

The two states identified areas of cooperation and agreed to work together, with committees set up to address pending issues. Revanth Reddy presented a book reflecting Telangana's history and philosophy, signaling a positive step towards resolving long-standing issues between the two states.
